How does the point system work?
KidzTalk registered members get points by asking and answering questions. Getting upvotes and having your answer selected as best is another way. A small number of points are given when you upvote another question. Users with enough points get ranked in the Users section. Points let you have things like an advice column, blog, and an avatar. What are private messages? If you click on the profile of a user, you will see the ability to send them a private message. Please be aware that our strict moderation rules also apply to any messages you send and are reviewed by real moderators.

Once approved, the receiving user will get a notification on KidzTalk about the message and can reply back to you. If a message is waiting for approval, they will see "(WAITING FOR APPROVAL)" as the message. If something is not approved, it will also display a message.

In your own profile, you will see a message link that holds all your conversations received and sent. To reply back or just to see the entire thread details, you can click on the reply symbol.
What are polls?
Polls let you have a question with different choice answers. You can have one, or multiple answers. Just select 'Create Poll' when posting content to create one. We always suggest having 2 or more choices for answers. You must have an KidzTalk account to create a poll.
Can I change my KidzTalk theme?
Yes. Several different looks are available. Go to "Edit My Profile" and select a different theme. Please be aware that not all the themes work well on mobile devices, and certain mobile themes may not look right on desktop computers. You need to select a theme for both mobile and desktop. The default theme is SnowFlat which works on mobile and desktops.
How do I get an advice column?
You need 25,000 points for one. Once you achieve this, just request one and post it in the "Ask KidzSearch" category.
How do I get a blog?
You can get your own blog once you have over 1,000 points. Request it in the "Ask KidzSearch" category. Please keep it current. Inactive blogs without much content may get removed.
In some special cases we can give one to you even if you are not a registered user, but be aware that it can lead to others pretending to be you posting content in it.
What are clubs?
Clubs are often focused on smaller topics that we don't include in the main list of categories. Anyone can request one by using the Ask KidzSearch section, but it is up to KidzSearch to include them. Clubs need to have enough general interest to be added.
What are badges?
Badges are given when you complete a set of actions, such as getting points, or having a certain number of best answers. They are displayed in your profile. A list of all our badges and how they are earned can be found here.
Can I change my username?
While we don't encourage it, you can change it using the KidzSearch Username Change Category to make a request. Usernames must not contain any personal information and must be unique. In addition, you need to be the owner of the account requesting the change.
How can I change my password?
Click on 'forgot password' to reset it. An e-mail will be sent with instructions to the person who registered your account (parent/guardian).
How can I delete my KidzTalk account?
Please contact KidzSearch support to have your account deleted. The request must come from the same e-mail used to register your account. We will reply to the email and ask you for final confirmation. Once deleted, all questions, answers, and comments by you will be removed.
You can also just request to have your account blocked so you can't login, or remove your username from all posts and comments (they get listed as anonymous). This will keep related comments by other users active.
How do I upload an image or add a video in a post? You can embed videos just by including the actual link in your post.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAgfnK528RA

We currently just accept YouTube videos. The entire video must be family-friendly.

You can upload images by clicking on the image upload button. The current file upload size limit is 10MB. An image upload example is given below.

KidzTalk Rules Summary Here is a summary of our rules:

  • Personal information that can identify you is not allowed. This includes your full name, or first name if it is not common, where you live (state/country is okay), pictures, video, or audio of yourself, family, or people you know.

  • Everything must be family-friendly. KidzTalk has a very wide range of users, so everything must be appropriate for all grade levels. Adult language or images are not allowed. Excessively graphic/gory drawings or images are not allowed. This also applies to stories. Even though everything gets fully moderated, it wastes the time of the people that screen them and can result in permanently blocking your account, or IP address for unregistered users.

  • No dating. We will not tolerate posts or private messages that appear like "online dating" between members and will ban accounts that abuse the rule.

  • Bullying other users in any form is not allowed and will result in banning your account if we see it.

  • Do not impersonate other users, such as using their name, or spelling variation. We have seen multiple posts today that claim to be from us. This can result in account blocking.

  • Please respect copyright rules. Do not copy things from other users or websites without proper permission. This includes copy/pasting blocks of text, or using images you don't own. For example, if an image has the name of a user on it, or a watermark, you should not use it. If something is made for sharing, you can use it.

  • You should avoid using AI tools to create serious content or images. In general, they create a poor experience and can often be wrong. However, you can use AI and state that AI was used when generating things just for fun, like memes.
