English: The FPA was created by the Soviets shortly before the Winter War. It consisted mainly of Finns and other related folk. Russians with issued Finnish identites were also recruited when the former were lacking. Intended to be 80 000 strong, but only 22 594 were able to be mustered. Not meant for combat operations, but to take the country over from the Red Army. However, due to circumstances, it took part in reconnaissance in Lapland and combat around Lunkulansaari.

This work is in the public domain in the United States, because it was in the public domain in its home country (Russia) on the URAA date (January 1, 1996), and it wasn't re-published for 30 days following initial publications in the U.S.
