“HEY!” I hear a woman say in the background “GET BACK HERE! THIEF, THIEF!”. I didn’t care, this was normal for New York City. I continued on my way. I was scrolling through my playlist, trying to find the right song to fit my mood, but I couldn't. I didn’t notice people bumping into me, trying to talk to me, playing music for charity. My mind was just too cloudy. But suddenly I woke up, like I had just been sleeping and then heard a loud sound. I heard a gunshot. I dropped my MP4 player and ducked down. My heart skipped a beat when I realized I was being shot at. The guy had run and no one was harmed. The police showed up and looked at me and the bullet. They asked me “Was anyone hurt” and I told them no. But that night was the night I woke up and now I know that mental health is the same as physical.
