Downstairs, Chelsea used her fork to pick at her dim sum.
"Chelsea, you've got to eat."
Chelsea didn't reply.
"Dad, and now Maggie. What could be worse?" Chelsea mumble
Chelsea's mom was silent. She was lost from words.
Chelsea got up and stomped up the stairs and slammed the door behind her.
"CHELSEA MARGARET BIXBY!" Her mom yelled," GET BACK DOWN HERE NOW!!!!"
Chelsea didn't reply. She was curled up in her closet crying.
"Chelsea?" Her mom said
No reply
Her mother sighed, "Chelsea, please come down."
Still no reply.
Chelsea's mom walked up to her room and put her ear to the door.
Sob. Sob. Sob.
She knocked on Chelsea's door and let herself in.
"Chelsea, I know it's hard but don't put it too hard on yourself. These things, they happen." She slung her arm around Chelsea and looked into her black eyes. "This is not the Chelsea I know."
Chelsea looked up at her mother and smiled. "You know, you are like no one else, right?"
Her mother smiled. "Thanks! I think."
And at 11:00p.m. at night, one of the only things you could see was Chelsea and her mom smiling.
