Question

One eye open, I glance over at my phone. bzzzzzzzbzbzzzbzbzbbzz, it rang. "Natali! shut up; geez!" I said, reaching for my phone to read the messages.

omg heyyy L totally 4got abt are morning surf didya loloololol that ok im not goin anwys after wat happened ystrdy lolol don't blame ya ;P

Wait, what!?! Did I miss something, because I don't remember having a "morning surf" planned for today! What's going on? I thought. I quickly replied with:

cali_queen_li: Lol, what plans Gnat? I don't remember making any... :o

I sighed and decided that I wasn't going to start off my morning confused. I slipped into a bathing suit (it gets pretty warm in my house sometimes, so uh..gotta be prepared, right?), threw my favorite turquoise hoodie with the white strings on, and plopped my tangled, uncombed hair into a ponytail to get it out of my face for a change.

 

   As I was brushing my teeth in my bathroom, toothbrush still in my left hand, I bounced onto the bed as I heard a ding, acknowledging her reply. It read:

NataliYanoshi07: sorry lia i meant to send that to someone else ;)

Seriously? She almost NEVER mentions anyone else that she's friend with when she's around me. And who uses emoticons when emojis are clearly already in existence? Somethins is DEFINITELY going on... I noted in my head as I stared at the bright screen.

cali_queen_li: Really? Who else's name starts with an "L" that you have met before?

I sent her the exact things that were running through my head. Well, maybe not entirely. There were still a few if's and but's on whether she wasn't my friend anymore or not. This kind of stuff really scares me.

 

   Bzzzbzbzzbzbzbzbz!!!! My eyes nearly flew right out of my face.

NataliYanoshi07: you now, Lianne Remos? she was in our grade last year :) I met her over the weekend, at my great-uncles funeral..yea I saw her their and asked her y she was they're and she said bc her great-uncle pass away andi was me to than we asked are moms and they we like surprise your actually 2nd cousines twice removed! wasn't that cool?? :0:0:0

I barely stayed with her as she continued the story. Frankly, it was VERY unusual and hard to believe that that actually happened or not.

 

   Thoughts floated around in my mind questioning if she was just blowing me off, and "accidentally" texting me just to make me jealous of her new friend. We talked for awhile, before me eventually going downstairs to eat some breakfast before noon struck. Maybe I should call her! That'll explain this whole fiasco! I dialed her number.

ring, rriinngg, rrriiinnnggg, rrrriiiinnnngggg,  rrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg!

"Pick up already!" I banged my hand on the table so loud, my dad stepped in to check on me. "Lia, is everything okay? Who are you talking to?" I turned my phone off and sat back down. "Well, apparently nobody.." He sat down next to me. "What's wrong, sweetie? You seem tense," I sighed. "It's just that; Natali sent me a message this morning," "Here we go..." he mumbled under his breath. "she said I was late for our "surfing plans", and then she said sorry I meant to text Lianne Remos." "Wait a minute, isn't that the ginger-haired girl with the green eyes and the bangs that goes to your school?" he asked, eyebrows scrunched. "Yup, that's the one. Anyways, I said I remembered her. You know, from attendance and stuff. But when I asked how she knew her, she said they went to the same funeral, and discovered they're cousins or whatever." "And? That sound pretty logistical to me!" "Ughghgh!" I groaned.

 

   "Dad, you don't understand. Teenage girls are different. They never say what they mean," "So, are you saying what you mean right now?" he asked, sarcastically. I rolled my eyes. "yes. Yes I am, dad. I'm just worried she doesn't wanna be my friend anymore," "Have you talked to her?" "I tried calling her, obviously, but she didn't pick up!" He frowned. "Hmm. Maybe I should call her parents; ask them what's up. "NO, dad. I don't want her to think I'm one of those psycho friends who never let people breathe!" "Lia, you obviously didn't get hardly enough sleep last night. Go back to bed. Now." I trotted back up the steps to see if Natali texted me back. Bzzzzbbzbzbzbz!! Bulge!!!
