How to stay safe while hunting

   There are many people who hunt in  this country. But many people get hurt while hunting.

1. Check the weather. If it is going to be raining it is ok  to hunt. The moist ground doesn't make as much noise as dry ground does

2. Make sure you do a pack check. you want to see your 10  essentials, hunting gear, and any other items you want to take

3. Always make sure your guns, knives, and other gear are working properly. Some injuries happen because the gear wasn't working

4. Bring animal deterrent. I highly recommend bringing a side arm. Many hunters go in deep into the woods and get their animal, but when they start gutting it, the smell attracts a bear. There are a ton of stories about this stuff

5. Bring latex gloves. You might want these while gutting. While gutting you are for sure gonna get a little blood on you. The gloves can protect from illness.

6. Sharpen all the knives your bringing with you. A sharp Knife is safer than a dull Knife

7. Have fun while being safe. Better Safe than Sorry

I know this is old, but,

I wouldn’t RECOMMEND bringing a sidearm,

BRING a sidearm, especially a something like a .44 magnum if you’re up north, like in Montana.

Almost anywhere in the united states, there’s at least one animal that can hurt you in the woods.

In my part of Arkansas, its wild dogs (coyotes are afraid of humans here).

They are big, mean, tough, and they’re not afraid to hurt you.

.17 HMR or 9mm would be good for wild dogs, heck, even a .22 could kill em if you’re good enough of a marksman.

But you know how i mentioned Montana earlier?

.44 Magnum is a Grizzly Bear round.

Bringing something like a 9mm, .45 ACP, and ESPECIALLY .22 (doesn’t matter if its 22 LR or not) would make you pretty undergunned for Grizzly Bear defense.

Also, from what I’ve heard from multiple Bear attack survivors, Bear Spray is useless.
