Greetings. I am L, your Wandlore instructor.
You may ask, "What is wandlore?" Well, I will provide you with the definition for wandlore.
Wandlore: The study of how to make a wand, how they produce magic, how they choose an owner, and how they respond to usage.
In this class we will focus on how to make a wand. We will talk about how wizards make their wands and how you can make your own wand!
How Wizards Make Their Wands
The first thing a wizard must do before he makes a wand is to find the right tree. If he finds the right tree, he calls it a wand-quality tree, which just means that the tree produces the right kind of wood needed to produce wands.
Here is a list of all of the wand-quality trees:
But how does he find the right tree? Well, he does so by identifying the type of tree or looking for bowtruckles nesting in the leaves because they always inhabit wand-quality trees. A bowtruckle is a magical creature who guards wand-quality trees. They look like plant stems with leaves on their head. They have long fingers which they use to defend their tree. In fact, a bowtruckle can poke your eye out! See, Ralphie?
Then, he takes wood from the tree. If there are bowtruckles, he avoids them.
He searches for a core for his wand (we will talk about cores during the next class).
Then, he puts the core in the wand.
After that, he decorates his wand.
When the wand is decorated, he records its length, wood type, and flexibility.
Finally, he boxes the wand and puts it on a shelf with his other wands to sell in his shop.
