This is a beta version of my manga in story form. Hope you like it. This is just a mini battle and will not happen in the manga, I hope.
frac/tured: [CONFINE THE CHAOS]
WAR IS A TERRIBLE THING.
It tears countries apart. It tears families apart. But most importantly, it tears people apart. Literally, limb by limb, as a country struggles to get something: money, food, land. That is all terrible, but I believe that the worst kind of war is the most destructive. The worst kind of war is the type that is fought to be fought: there is no reason, no moral, no conscience.
That is the type of war being fought right now.
Between Father's army and the Black Army.
"This is Byakuren," I say into the head piece attached to my furry hood. I crouch in the trench, my back to the muddy side and my military rifle in my arms. I am not breathing as hard as the privates in the trench with me. They stare at me with their hollow, frightened eyes, and I stand up and rest my rifle on the trench side.
"Copy that, this is Kogarashi," says a male voice on another line.
"I have my sights on the enemy," I say, lining up my shot and preparing to fire. Just as I am about to press on the trigger, someone grabs my hood from behind and pulls me back into the trench. I turn and see one of the older generals, who nods at me and pulls me to another spot in the trench, this time where multiple enemies are lined up, firing out in the open.
In our army, anyone who wants to go to war can. Which explains the shaking privates and the generals who would have stayed home if someone ordered it.
"Dang it," I say, and Kogarashi makes a sound on the other line. "What?" I say, losing my cool and turning my rifle onto the other enemy men. A BANG, and a few fall to the ground. My bullet went right through their legs, leaving them bloody and unable to move. They aren't dead, but they probably are in enough pain to hope that they were.
"Nothing, General Shirayuri Byakuren, ma'am!" he says in a hasty coverup.
"That's what I thought," I say. I turn to the older general who had pulled me. "Alright, Kiki," I say, addressing him as everyone does by his last name. Despite being a general myself, I could boss the others around. I am the Head General's daughter after all, and despite being young, it's not like I'm a pushover. "You go over to the other trench and ambush some more enemies from behind."
He nods and goes off, rifle up and ready.
"And you guys," I say, a little briskly to the privates, "I don't know why you wanted to come. War is not fun and games. You think you would come here, and then go back home a hero? That's not how it works! Only a lucky few become 'heros', and the ones that do deserve it. I suggest you guys not taking any chances. Stay low and shoot from far away if you don't wanna die. This is war, not a daredevil's paradise." I take a deep breath, crouched in the musty smelling dirt. "One of you may not make it home if you're careless. So be on the watch. Don't try to be a hero. Just try to survive."
They nod.
"Now, I want you all to stay in the trench and stay on the move. Enemies may get here and then just shoot in, picking you off like you're squirrels in a cage, so be unpredictable."
I get up and swing myself out of the trench. There's tree to my right, so I dart to it and climb as silently as the leaves warrant me to. It's a tall tree, and quite flimsy, but it's the best I have, so I climb all the way to the top. I rest my rifle on one of the branches, and pick off my enemies one by one.
The battle is over before long.
