As he entered the shimmering white-blue castle, Rain glanced below him to see a glass walkway, which he was treading on. It was see through, and made him feel dizzy. Streams crisscrossed below him, way below him. A large lake was in the middle, glittering with the sunlight streaming from the semi-transparent roof dome.
"Kit!" said a Mermaid rat from behind with a raspy yell.
Rain jumped, almost slipping, but he caught himself just in time. "Y-yes?"
The Mermaid rat was an elderly, silver furred male. "You here to awaken your powers?"
"Huh?"
The rat mentioned down. "This spring is for awakening and refreshing one's natural powers. I suggest you do it soon, if you're not gonna do it today. Without your powers you'll be easy prey for the Hellhole rats."
"Okay, then... what do I do?" Rain said, scared of this large rat and ready to do whatever he said.
"First answer a few questions. What's your name?"
"Rain."
"That name was band 5 years ago. How old are you?" said the rat, looking at him closely.
"Five years ago," said Rain. In the first of the six months."
"Luna, eh? Well. Then you were born before the ban. That's fine. Anyway. What type of rat are you? Wyvern, Dragon, Earth, Mermaid, or Fire?"
"Um, my mother was a Wyvern rat but someone else said I was a Dragon rat." Rain said, quite nervously. What if this smart old guy found out his secret? He shivered thinking about it.
"Then your dad was most likely a Dragon rat. Sons usually are what their dads are if they're not a mixture." the mermaid rat paused. "Anyway, just head down the stairs. Pick any spring you like. You better be a strong swimmer." he winked, and Rain did as he said.
