"Are you ready?" I asked Lucas, who nodded. "Okay. Let's go."
We started walking, away from the Common Room. As we passed McGonagal in the hall, she smiled her rare smile and said, "I hope you two got permission," referring to Tom and Lucas. and nodded approvingly at me. "The transportation is waiting outside."
"Threstrals?" asked Tom, his mind still fixed on magical creatures.
McGonagal nodded. "I'm not sure if you'll be able to see them."
Tom had seen Ace die, so wouldn't he be able to? It didn't matter with Lucas, he was blind anyway, but I didn't know if I'd be able to, unless the death I saw during my orphanage years counted.
"I don't know If I'll be able to see them," I said. "I only saw one person die, when I was young."
"Then you'll be able to. Cmon, let's go," said Tom, and we walked out of the castle.
The ride was smooth and before long we were there, at the Ministry's visitor entrance. We stepped inside.
The lady on the phone end asked my name, and my purpose. "Asia Abernathy-Lovegood. Here to visit the Ministry." The lady asked Tom and Lucas, and before long we received our badges. What was funny, I realized as we went down, that the lady has escribed 'I'm With Her" on Tom and Lucas's badges, under their names.
When we got down, our wands were examined. The man handed back mine, but withheld Tom and Lucas's. 'Please let them have theirs," I said.
"They're not trustworthy. They have not received a background check."
'I can assure you they're fine." After some internal struggle, the man handed back the wands and bid us good day, and we walked off swiftly, to the Auror office. I saw a familiar face. "Kingsley?"
"Oh, Asia." he said.
"You two know each other?" asked Tom.
"In writing," I said. "Kingsley, why aren't you-"
"Doing ministry duties? I'm here to welcome you."
"Thanks, Kingsley. This is Tom, and Lucas. They're Malfoys but don't be too hard on them," I said nervously. Kingsley didn't make a comment. Instead, he said to me in a serious voice that I didn't like too much,
"You have one week to cut all ties with your past, Asia. Once you've done it, you can go for training. Are you taking Tom and Lucas with you?" he said, the names irregular on his tongue.
"Yes," said Lucas crisply.
"Okay. You guys need tp get ready. Training starts in a week. Also, Tom, Lucas, if you want you can take place in the training." Kingsley turned around, and walked off. "You guys can go now, or explore the Ministry. "
"Let's explore," I said, and pulled them out. But Kingsley said from behind,
'ASIA! Toby Caim's trial is being held downstairs. You're required to go down and witness or whatever."
I turned to Kingsley. "What? Why?"
'You got hurt by him. You're the reason he's going to Azkaban."
