"That's so unfair!" seethed River, surprising herself. She wasn't usually so mad. Turning around to face Nora when she came down, with a forlorn face, River grabbed her shoulder. "That's terrible! Don't you know what she did to me!"
Nora looked at her with a sort of quisical expression.
"The doctor told me not to say anything, but she tried to tear off my wings." said River, back to her quiet and soft voice. "I'm not sure if I'll be able to fly very well when the classes start cuz of her, but I don't know."
"That's bad," said Nora, but she seemed furious. "Stupid Amber."
"You may wanna get there first so you can claim a bunk," said River. "I'll go check out mine and then come visit you after dinner." she said, hoisting her box of stuff up to her chest. "What's for dinner, anyway?"
"Some of the vampires are making some garlic-free spaghetti."
"Huh." River glanced around the large gym to see that there was a sign pointing down the halls to the dorms. "Gotta go. Also, it's a bit odd I'm being bunked with a dude." she glanced over to him, and he waved and smiled his million dollar smile.
Nora smiled as best she could and River ran down to her dorm. She twirled the key on her finger and went to dorm 32. When she placed the key into the lock, turned it, and opened the door, she heard someone behind her.
"Hey! The name's River, right?"
River whirled around to see Miles. "Hey," she said, shier than normal.
She set down her box and started to unpack. She set things in the bookshelves and he helped her, after a minute she asked, "So, did they bunk us cuz we have the same monster type or something?"
"I guess," he said. "Aren't you part siren and part winged demon?"
"Yeah."
"I'm an incubus. You know, siren demon mixture. So, you are technically a succubus, right, the female version of an incubus?"
River shrugged, "That's what the doctor said."
"I hope we can be friends," said Miles.
River grinned. "Sure. Have you met Nora? She's my friend,"
"Oh, yeah. She saved me from Hano."
"Hano? Yeah, Amber. She's really hurtful to me and Nora." said River, and a pang went through her injured wing. "Ah," she said, clutching it.
Miles' eyes flashed. He had white-blond hair with brown streaked through it. "Did she hurt you?" he asked, a little quietly.
"Yes, but it's nothing," said River hurriedly. "I'm fine!" she said in a shrill voice.
Miles didn't seem to believe her.
