They have had the Hong Kong Open annual badminton tournaments since 1982, so it has been around a while. The game was invented in England over 2,000 years ago. It has a very long history. Not sure when it was first played in HK, but I know Hong Kong was part of England for many years until it was returned to China in 1997, so that is probably how it got started in Hong Kong.
