Soooo today was FUN.

I had an anxiety attack last night and then a panic attack in-class today. FUN.

But seriously, I felt terrible.

Quick difference between anxiety and panic attacks: Panic attacks are brought on by seemingly nothing, while anxiety attacks build up when you have those anxious thoughts.

One nice thing about today was I think the dude behind me understood I was having a panic attack, considering I was staring at a fixed point on the wall and trying not to explode in tears, and he tried to cheer me up by making jokes. That was really nice. I now consider him my almost best friend. Yes, that's a thing.

Not trying to draw attention to myself or anything. In fact, I need advice. I know a lot of the people on here go through some of the same things, so how do you get them under control in public?

Hi! Wow, I'm sorry. I wasn't at school yesterday cuz i had a runny nose, and I was super tired (didn't wanna get anyone sick.) So, honestly, you can't really stop panic attack from happening, since they come out of nowhere, but you sure as heck can try to calm yourself down. Try focusing on all your senses. What do you feel, taste, hear, see, smell. Try to focus on that for a bit, and you might feel better. Umm let's see, focus on your breathing, think of smth that's funny to you. Or, you could go to the counselor if it gets really bad. Hope this helps!

I ain't going to the counselor in the middle of class, no offense. It's embarrassing to ask and stuff. Also, it was the (I assume) boy who sits behind me lol. But thank you, this really did help!

At my school, if you go to the counselor and tell them you have something like attacks, then you can leave the classroom and go to the counselor without asking, the counselor will just give you a note when you are ready to leave and when you give it to the teacher they don't ask questions. Otherwise, sometimes I'll go up to the teacher and ask to go to the counselor. I do this because I have anger issues and sometimes I have to leave the classroom until I calm down so I don't punch someone's face in.

Honestly, I have the same problem, and while anxiety meds did help me tremendously, I think my favorite method to help them is visualization, just imagine something that would make you happy, like for me it's one of my "familiar" animal oc, which for lack of better words is kind of like an imaginary pet or comforter, or you can imagine yourself in your favorite place or somewhere that makes you happy :) If all else fails, maybe hightail it to the bathroom? That's what i do 0~0

Cant say i have had an "attack" of either sort, however, i am considering the possibility that i may have anxiety since i have been shaking a bit lately and worrying, especially about my future and mental health stuff. Not many other symptoms though.
