Your Opinion on Pitbulls- Violent or Family Dogs? [poll]

Question

So, many times I've seen people be afraid of pitbulls. Once at an animal shelter, they let you pet any dog except the pitbull. Before being told this, I had been petting the dog and he was very friendly. There are also laws against owning pitbulls in some states. Honestly, I think that's stupid. I've had two pitbull dogs in my life. Both have been the sweetest dogs in the world, they'd never hurt anyone unless they absolutely had to. Pitbulls are not violent naturally. If you train them to be violent, they will be, if you raise them like a normal dog, they're sweet as sugar. Honestly, the most violent dog I've had has been a chihuahua. She'd kill someone before the pitbulls would. Still, my dad's had a more violent pitbull and I have heard stories. Even then, he was not violent until his later years (he kinda just lost it), and he had been abused prior to my dad's ownership. Pitbulls are not naturally vicious, as with all dogs, it depends on how you treat them.

I think pitbulls are incredibly adorable if trained right, but my friend has a horrible fear of them bc she was attacked by one when she was little and still has the scars on her arm 10 years later.

A thing that makes me so mad is how pitbulls are painted as vicious.

If you think they’re vicious creatures for no reason, you have -999 iq, and you trigger me.

I do think some dogs are naturally vicious, but still,

Hate the owner, not the dog.

If the dog does something adverse and attacks people, even if the dog is naturally vicious, it is the owner's job to make sure that the dog is restrained AND getting the proper love and care it deserves so that it isn't hostile anymore.

Their only violent if they are either raised incorrectly, abused or raised as attack dogs.

It really depends my neighbor has a pitbull its the kindest thing in the world but it is still nice. My moms cousin was petting a dog once (she was old But she had been around kids since she was a puppy) and she bit him. It really depends dogs can be your best friend and then they just Turn on you. Some are sweet some aren't so that's the reason at the animal shelter they won't let you pet them.

The dog most likely felt threatened. I'll be honest, yes, older pitbulls can get grumpy and a little violent in their old age, but most are still kind.
