Bill Bruford

William Scott "Bill" Bruford (born 17 May 1949 in Sevenoaks, Kent) is an English drummer, percussionist, composer, producer, and record label owner. He was the first drummer in the progressive rock group Yes, from 1968–1972. Bruford played in many other bands since the early 1970s. He was the drummer for Genesis in 1976 while they were on tour. Bruford was the drummer for progressive rock band King Crimson. Bruford now plays jazz, and has his own jazz group, Earthworks. He stopped performing in public in 2009. He still has two record labels, and continues to speak and write about music. His autobiography, Bill Bruford: The Autobiography, was published in early 2009.
