Leonard Ray Dawson (June 20, 1935 – August 24, 2022) was an American football quarterback. He played in the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL) for 19 seasons. Dawson was born in Alliance, Ohio. His career began in 1957 and he retired from playing in 1975. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Texans / Kansas City Chiefs. He was honored into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.

On August 12, 2022, it was announced that Dawson was in hospice care.[1] He died twelve days later on August 24, aged 87.[2]
