If it's fantasy/fiction, you should add a lot of onomatopoeias, you should also give the characters some unusual but cool names. Give some detailed descriptions on characters, especially the main ones. I don't really write any stories that are out of that genre, unless it's kind of mystery. Sorry if this isn't much help.
