You need to manually move things over via copy/paste. Some users had groups with things like an art tutorial that would make a nice post, long stories, etc. Just move what you think would bring value to the new version. Most of the content that was more personal is not going to be useful in the current version.
We are just going to block logging in and creating new accounts. The archive will remain. However, some groups were private, so those will not be available in the archive version because you need to be a member of the group and logged in to see it.
In general, you should always have copies of things you really want if you don't have your own version. We can't guarantee our servers will always be available. For example, if we sold the company (there are no current plans), the new owner could close things, like the archive section.
