(Minecraft pro gamer question) Does Diamond Sword or Axe do more damage?

Does an axe do more damage than a sword? or is it vice versa

(Only pro MC players know this)

I think the axe does more damage and also reaches further away.

An axe deals 2 more damage points/hearts than a sword would. A sword deals 7 and an axe deals 9.

In bedrock edition it’s a sword and in Java it’s an axe, but an axe is SO SLOW ( I play bedrock and watch Geminitay u should watch her)

With a critical attack, the axe would deal more damage (up to 8 hearts, depending on which type of axe, whith no enchantments). The axe also stuns shields, whereas the sword doesn't.

In Java edition, the axe has more reload time, and the sword is quicker.

In bedrock edition, attack speed is nonexistent,

So, they are both good in different ways

In Java Edition, a diamond axe deals more (9) damage but has slower attack speed.

In Bedrock Edition, a diamond sword deals more (7) damage. Attack speed does not exist in Bedrock Edition.

Ok so the thing is in Java the sword has sweeping edge with 7 damage and an axe does 9 damage with slower attack speed.

In Bedrock the sword does 7 the axe does 6 same attack speed and no sweeping edge. (Oh and also Bedrock you can just spam swing a sword)
