ok.

So, usually the girls (espiecally younger girls) mostly wore some pretty basic clothes. Depending on the economical status of your character's family here is a guide

if your character is rich, which was rare. she will be wearing really well-made, Non-Traditional ( No Folkdäktars, Bunads, Folkdresser etc) dresses. If you're looking for a more causal style, then she will be wearing a longer clothes with a skirt or pants made for girls. Same applies for middle class, just with more inexpensive fabric

for lower-class, usually they would be wearing cotton shirts a long with either overalls or a long skirt. if your character is religious (which is a high chance, noting that 98% of all of the Norway-Sweden Union's population is religious, maiking it one of the most religious countries back then. Today Sweden is mostly atheist, and Norway is still in the 70-80% range) then she will wear a head covering (which can be short, as you could see the front of her hair)

Mary Hansen will technically be her birth name, since they were still adapting the traditional Nordic surnames.

last thing

With last names, an exception includes the act of army surnaming. which means if a Scandinavian-American wanted to join the army, they had to change their last name so they don't get confused. This also meant that the surname of that character has to change for people in all of their relations (Their wife/husband, children and other relatives)

The surname change happens if any of the relatives join the army
