All my music posts flop lol-
Nordic History song recs! These are my reccomended songs inspired by or created in certain periods of Nordic history, so enjoy! Not all of these are folk songs, they're inspired.
Viking Age
- Rún - SKÁLD
- Ved Stamford Brua - Harald Foss
- Eld - Månegard
- Kvit Hjort - Wardruna
- Trøllabudin - Eivør
- Brifrost - Helene Bøksle.
I do want to say that with Viking-era songs, I want to take extreme caution in the artists. Sometimes the Viking artists will have inaccurate songs. Not saying all Viking Music artists are bad, Harald Foss makes songs based of real historical events and Skáld cites their inspirations (which are dragged from Icelandic Sagas) but I;m talking people like peyton parrish.
Kalmar Union
- Nordika - Various Artists
- Herr Holger - Garmarna
- Sagojóhka - Hedningarna
- Zinklars Visa - Stormti
- The Girls from Tuuterin - Värttinä (IK they're Karelian and Karelia wasn't from the Kalmar Union)
Age of Liberty
- Malins Prov - Sagskara
- I Jämtland - Triakel
- Et Ynding land - Copehangen Drummers
- Ack Hör du lille Erik - Folk Och Rackare
IDK a lot of liberty-age era songs. BTW the Liberty age is from 1523 to 1774 in Scandinavian history, not 1523 to 1814 as I used to say-
Whatever Era was the 1800s Scandinavia
- En Spelmans Jordfärd - Solblot (The original recording was by Dan Andersson but I can't find it anywhere)
- Långt Bort I Skogen - Sofia Sanden and Maria Jonsson
- Major Brack - Folk Och Rackare (As great as this song is, it is sadly not avaiable on Spotify)
- Amerikaresan - Triakel (I'm gonna put Scandinavian-American songs here as well because they're still part of Scandinavian history)
- Hjältevisa - Thyra Karlsson
- Brevet från Liiikavaara - Norrlåtar.
So there's my list for songs inspired by Nordic history. Enjoy them
