I don't feel represented

Question

I'm Latina. I'm half Mexican, half Salvidorian. Most of you know this.

I hardly ever see things representing Latina girls who look like me! I know, I'm not a celebrity so I shouldn't expect Barbies looking exactly like me, but I would like to see a doll/toy who has my color skin!

I do sometimes, but they're often all traditional. I would like to see some with casual, trendy clothes that don't look like something out of my grandma's attic!

I also hate when they make ALL Latinx cartoon characters say every other word in spanish!!! It triggers me!! I may be Latina, and I may know some spanish, but I DON'T SAY EVERY OTHER WORD IN SPANISH!!!!

So, it made me happy when I read the comic book, "Ghosts" by Raina Telgemeier. The characters were Mexicans living in California and they just said things almost always in English. Just like the Mexican foods, holidays, songs, and instruments were in spanish!

I felt very represented reading that book. What I like the best is that it was made by a white lady who didn't streotype us.

That language where they say every other word in spanish is a real language. It is called Spanglish and I had to study it for a creative project in school.

I am also Latina, I was born in Venezuela and I have Spanish ancestry as well

I found a series of dolls called Latinistas (I think thats what they're called) and they're basically Latina dolls with modern fashion :D

Also the English-Spanish thing annoys me a lot. Cocomelon has a Latina character, but she speaks Spanish at home and English at school (which is what I do as well)

Basically Im Not even allowed to bring up Venezuela when I'm with my dad. He got me a jacket with some flags (Norway, Sweden and Spain) and he didnt want to glue a Venezuelan flag on my jacket because he thinks well.... you know..

he does, he just thinks that if I wear the Venezuelan flag or bring up that Im Venezuelan people will think we are bad people, since a lot of assumptions about Venezuelans are bad
