Idk if this is impressive (btw this is pretty much entirely for Michael)

Question

Alr so around October or November me and my dad went to a family-friend’s place to line up our rifles and uppers for our AR15 (6.5 grendel along with our 7.62x39).

I didn’t shoot my 308 rifle we brought, since I wanted to keep the recoil and feeling for when I killed my other deer during the actual season (I killed my first buck during Muzzleloader season).

Turns out, we didn’t see **** other than this 8 point that was moving too fast for me to focus and shoot (stupid thing chased a doe and couldnt even stop even after my dad made a sound in an attempt to get the bucks attention).

The 6.5 was lined up good (we had two uppers, one was new and one hadn’t been shot by us in over a year), and I got to shoot it, so yay.

As for our 7.62x39 upper (which had a red dot sight, dang I’m using a lot of parentheses), I actually shot it.

Now, rewind a bit.

This house has a back porch which leads down to a deck set above the ground.

That’s where we usually shoot.

Now, there is a pond below the deck (it’s actually a good 5 yards or more in front of the deck, too).

As we set up the targets at the end of the pond for us to shoot (end of the pond was like 80 yards or more away), we noticed some rotting oranges at the edges of the pond.

So, we picked em up and chucked em in the middle of the pond as targets.

The oranges were about the size of softballs.

Now, back to the part where the 7.62x39 is being tested.

I walk up to shoot it at the orange in the middle of the pond (which was about 50 yards away from our shooting position).

First try, I nail it with a single shot and a nice chunk blows a good 30-50 feet in the air.

Is this impressive, Michael?

You are pretty much the only other person here who hunts and does country stuff.

i dont have very much experience with multiple kinds of guns, and i've never gotten to kill a buck before.

you're good at precision shooting from what i read!

i mainly go bobcat hunting, and it was a mistake when i went with my uncle my first time hunting deer, so, my uncle who had never shot a gun before. he spooked the deer, and the three hours we were out were a flop.

im going again next month, deer hunting, hopefully with a Remington 700-bolt-action rifle. my dad's getting one pretty soon, so that'll be cool.

and, fyi, yes, it's impressive, i've also never met someone more into hunting than you, Gravity!
