There was an original. I believe this is how it goes, but I’m probably wrong.
Back in 2009 or so, Miley Cyrus wrote and recorded a song called “Karma’s a *****”. Of course that was scrapped because she was working with Disney at the time, and there’s no way Disney would allow that.
Then, Miley Cyrus handed the song to Brit Smith. She was gonna release it as her debut single back in 2012, but the record label wanted her to release another song instead in 2013. That song didn’t do very well, so Smith left the music industry.
A music video was made for Brit Smith’s version of the song in 2013, a year after the video was supposedly scrapped. That music video was originally uploaded by Super77 on Vimeo.
11 years later, JoJo Siwa decides to cover (and modify, I think) the song and she changed the name to “Karma”. That was released a month ago, and it exploded.
Due to the success of Karma, the music video for Brit Smith’s version of the song became viral on TikTok.
So the song was originally a scrapped Miley Cyrus song.
