As a user you can gain points for every question you ask or answer or comment on. You climb up different ranks from the points. You can also once you have reach a certain amount of points start blogs and advise columns. You can become in the top 40 to be on the popular users page. I hope this was helpful.

Thanks! I now understand what points are. Although, don't know what top 40 is. I'll find out sooner or later I guess!

Your rank and your points are tied together. The more points the higher the rank. You are getting pretty high. The top 40 ranks show up on the users page. You can see me at rank 29.
