Can People Stop Joking About Diabetes?

On this question, people keep saying that Bob has diabetes because he ate 29 candy bars. It's not anything to joke about and it's not funny.

My Mom got diabetes when she was twelve. It was a genetic condition inherited from past generations. You can't control Type 1 Diabetes, and you can't get it from eating too much candy. People are wrong to believe that myth. So please stop joking about it. Let's put an end to the myths and find the truth. Diabetes is not caused by eating too much candy.

It’s true! I was doing research on diabetes a couple months ago, and it said that you can’t get diabetes from eating too much candy. Honestly, it’s not even funny. I know some people are just trying to get a laugh, but diabetes is very serious. It’s really nothing to joke about. Also, I hope your mom is doing well now. Thank you for taking this to attention.

Hi:) You are correct in saying that Type 1 Diabetes can't be controlled and it isn't caused by the amount of sugar you eat.
They were probably referring to Type 2 Diabetes. Sugar intake doesn't DIRECTLY cause this either, however, Type 2 Diabetes is more common if you eat more sugar.

I get it, but I also have diabetes in my genetics and I'm highly likely to get it (I was too afraid to get tested for it). My grandmother has it, her mother has it, her mother had it, all my great aunt's have it and a few of my aunt's have it. My great grandmother (who I was close to) passed away from it. But I'm not bothered by it, it's not really offensive to me.
