Question

so I was bored in math class and because I was bored, I decided to draw Nordic flags on my sketchbook

CAST OF FLAGS

main 5 : Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland

Side Characters (Territories) : Greenland, Faroe Islands, Sápmi  (Indigenous Scandinavians)

Former members : Raven Banner (Viking flag), Kalmar Union (Nordic union from the 1300s)

Comment any flags (nordic countries) I should add if I missed any,

Who copied who? Like, why are most of the Scandinavian flags mostly the same, just with different colors?

Denmark's flag came 1st. the only Modern outliers are Sapmi and Greenland who are copies of each other (the colors in Sapmi represent the elements in the Sami Religion and the stripes represent the 4 countries the Sami live in) and the Raven Banner (obvuious because the Vikings were not Christian when the Raven Banner was established). in historical times, the Kalmar Union (which I dont have to explain because I drew it) and the Sweden-Norway flag were the closest to the modern Nordic flag design establishment. 

The 2-color/3-color Cross pattern found in the flags of the Nordic countries is called Daneborg. It is mostly used for the  Nordic countries, however there are Russian, German and Dutch provinces who use the Daneborg flag as well.

Im sorry I wrote a full essay about the history behind the Daneborg flags I just love answering questions about nordic stuff
