New Feature - Private Messaging

Question

We want to make an official announcement about the new private messaging feature. If you are a registered user and click on the profile of another user, you will see a private message button. Currently, you can only message moderators and staff. Please use it to report any problems or concerns you are having.

We plan to open the beta release to messaging other users. However, it will take some time to fully complete, since we need to keep everyone safe, just like we do with regular KidzTalk posts and answers/comments. We will make an announcement when it is open to more users.

Do you have any questions about the current version? What do you think about getting email notifications when a private message is sent? Should that be optional? What features would you like to see?

my solution-

how would it be if every private message sent to any user by any user is being sent at once to the receiver (and also users can chat online), but moderators can view them,moderate them and advice users and so on???? I think it wouldn't be much time consuming if you also get some AI assistance like some other websites do, and this will be much easier for you to moderate and make KS a much wonderful as well as safe place for kids

Nah, AI is unreliable for moderation. At least for now.

Private messages are now open to most registered users. Just click on the profile of a user you want to message. Remember, we don't allow anything not safe or personal. Whatever you send gets moderated, so there will be a delay before the user gets your message, but they will know you sent something in their notifications. We are not sending emails, so you need to login to see if you have messages.

This would be a great addition to the functionality of this site.

I also want to express that a message shouldn't be in the normal notification spot, but a completely new one, or a page with all your active conversations. This would reduce the difficulty of having to shift mindsets of going to conversation to conversation. And it would be more organized, as I assume the messages may be quite a bit more frequent than the other notifications.

Once you are in your profile, you should see a Private Messages tab. That section will contain all your conversations. However, you will also see message notifications in the general alerts section. Private messages will be a different color (white).

I think email notifs should be optional, kinda like how when you ask a question, add an answer, and post a comment. maybe whenever you go to send a message you could have a checkbox you can click before you send it, like the other stuff on here?

some other features i'd like to see are def bios :D!! now that we've gotten pms, bios would make the whole platform complete!

Problem with twitch is they aren’t strict on sexual content (especially involving females, twitch lets them do whatever they want).

Luckily, I’m not weird and i watch a fat male viking streamer, two really cool black male streamers, and a cool female streamer that isn’t sus.

Also carly the dude isn’t really a viking he just looks like one

Also, i stream fortnite mainly, and if i feel like it i stream mobile.

I used to do streams showing my face but now I hide it.

And, twitch deletes old streams, so, if I make non-commentary streams, I might be able to share my channel.
