My dad has set a goal for me.

*drum roll plz drum

Now, I read a lot. But all I read are SAINs, Travel guides to Nordic countries, Wikipedia articles and books for middle school boys (wimpy kid, Middle school worst years of my life, big nate etc) But my dad wants me to actually read.

He thinks that reading the latter isn't gonna teach me anything. He thinks that the other 3 are educational but I should read something that's more fitting for my gender and age group

(ah, appearently teen girls can't be into Scandinavian history. How Lovely)

Now I have to fall into the void of the most nightmare fuel kind of books (if you like these I respect you)

No

No

NOEEE-

T h e s e      B o o k s.

My dad wants me to read more "girly" books since he thinks they will actually teach me how to be a decent girl, but these books dont even have girl characters having non-girly interests. Like, If you're a girl and you like girly stuff that's totally OK, BUT THERE ARE GIRLS WHO DON'T.

They also have a book in that series where changing yourself to fit in is glamorized and considered a positive message. At school, i get bullied for liking Nordic stuff but Nordic stuff gives me a sense of comfort. I am not changing myself

So, Please save me from this and give me book recomendations. Nordic books are absolutely great, and anything that is middle grade is acceptable. I'm almost 14, and I love art, genealogy, nordic countries and history.

(My Mom on the other hand, she loves my reading choices. She has watched The Emigrants Movie at least twice with me, and almost every week we watch some Scandinavian travel documeatries in Spanish)

Guinness World Records. Duh. One time, my dad (when he was a kid) was reading a Guinness World Records book, and he circled all the ones where the person was from Norway, and it turns out that one of those people was (I’m pretty sure, I dunno though) his uncle.

So I guess I’m related to a record-breaker. Nice.

I PUNCHED THAT UPVOTE BUTTON

-Time Quintet by Madeleine L'Engle: THE BEST BOOK SERIES IN THE WORLD.

- Number the Stars by Lois Lowry (set in Denmark): THE BEST BOOK ALONE IN THE WORLD

-Boy: Tales of Childhood by Roald Dahl: The title already says what this book is. Anyways, Roald Dahl is from Norway, so why not.

-The Nordic Theory of Everything: I haven't read this one, but it's Nordic so.

-Enchantment of the World Second Series: Every book is about a different country. Get the Scandinavia ones and any others u may want.

-Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis: pretty sure you already know about this one from HighQueenSusan.

-Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling: yuh

-Land of Stories by Christopher Colfer: About two kids who fall (yes, fall) into a book, the Land of Stories, where stories are real. This one is actually a book series, with 6 (?) books.

-The Wild Robot by Peter Brown: 3 book series about this robot who survives in a forest.

-Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson: a book about astrophysics. Yes, this one was random.

-The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum: 13 books. A book series about a place called Oz.

-The Mighty Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Curtis: About a Black girl living in the Great Depression.

-Holes by Louis Sachar

-The Dreamer by Pam Muñoz Ryan

-Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan

Hope you enjoy this book dump, feel free to ask if you need any more
