Yes, I titled this post the same thing for last year’s recap. Except this year, instead of doing a monthly format, I’m gonna mainly talk about the biggest things that happened to me this year.
Also, I’m gonna do a KidzTalk one (about what happened on KidzTalk) and a real-life one (about what happened in real-life).
KidzTalk
2023 on KidzTalk was… huge. Nobi came back, Esie left, a lot of new users joined (most notably Carly), and most importantly, real-time.
This year, as we all know, Esie left in July. She’s semi-active now, but a lot of people were sad to see her go. It was also against her will to leave; turns out her dad didn’t approve of KidzTalk and KidzNet.
A user called “nobodyimportant” joined. This user (known as Nobi) was on here during 2022. Nobi left unexpectedly during September 2022 because she wasn’t allowed on here. Nobi joined back in May and was active since then. She recently got an account and claimed everything she ever did, which now means that she has 285K points and is #10 on the leaderboard.
A lot of people joined KidzTalk in 2023, perhaps the most ever. We have people who joined in early 2023, like -GoldenEagle- and Seby123. We also have people who joined in late 2023, like ThatOneRainbowWorm and braceletgirl123.
But the most notable person? Nordic_Genealogist (Carly).
She was first on here in early 2023. She then created an account on August 17. Carly is very well known for her love of Scandinavia (
). She spread the word across KidzTalk and she is now famous for it.
She also gained a lot of points, in a very short amount of time, making her the person who’s had the fastest point growth ever. (Nobi gained almost 300K points in an even shorter time, but KidzSearch helped her claim all of her stuff) Carly has 431K points and is currently ranked #4 on the leaderboard.
Real-time also made its debut on KidzTalk in July, specifically July 12. Real-time has arguably changed KidzTalk forever as moderation speeds are extremely quick during real-time, making roleplays and conversations far easier. Hey, it affected me a lot.
And now for KidzTalk and KidzNet User of the Year awards. I hosted the 2022 KidzTalk one in April (as Pumpkin never did it) and I ended up winning the KidzTalk User of the Year 2022 award.
And now, I’m hosting both a KidzTalk and a KidzNet version for this year. The awards on KidzTalk have proved to be popular with a lot of votes coming in, and votes are coming in on the KidzNet one too.
However, one user seemed really mad about not getting any votes on the KidzNet one…
There’s also a KidzTalk Yearbook ceremony that was suggested by PsychoSloth. KidzSearch is curating that one but there are quite a few votes from what I can tell.
There’s also been a lot of comment strings, most notably the banning string and the last comment string (now last answer).
Welp, what will 2024 bring to KidzTalk? Maybe more chaos? Maybe something life-changing? I dunno.
