Clearing Up Misconceptions About Furries [poll]

Question

Many people hate furries for all the wrong reasons. I want to clear up all those wrong reasons.

Furries are people who enjoy drawing/dressing up as animals and making fursonas. We do not believe we are animals (no hate to therians!), nor do we feel attracted to animals. That last reason is just plain wrong.

They just want to be creative! It is just cosplay with animal characters instead of human (or human-like) ones! Please take these reasons into account.

This is absolutely true.

I used to be a furry hater (unfortunately). I never bullied them, but I heard of all the misconceptions and thought they were so gross and weird.

And as SOON as I found out what a furry ACTUALLY was, I supported them.

The misconceptions need to stop!

Sometimes, I wonder if im one… I really do like cosplay, and I’d cosplay as an animal.. we don’t talk about this yet hush

I’ve never hated furries, but I’m most definitely the only one in my friend group who actually supports them. All the others think they’re weird.

I don't get why people hate them.

It's like, for example, dressing up as an animal for Halloween. Is that bad?

Furries are fantastic and people just like us, and just as we have our hobbies, obsessions, etc., they have theirs, and it just so happens to be this.

Seriously, guys. If you have had a bad encounter with someone who happens to be a furry, please don't group them as a whole. A lot of my friends on here are furries, and they're the gosh darn nicest and coolest people you'd ever want to meet. Stop saying they're weird and/or disgusting. It's hurtful to them.

They want to be accepted just as much as you want to be accepted.

If we keep going around in the cycle of hate and prejudice, we're never going to get anywhere. It's only going to hurt all of the people inside.

Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Stop this cycle.
