Okay, I am 72% sure that I have some sort of pyrophobia, because…

I’m at my grandma’s house and it’s 11 PM and I’m typing this without my glasses and I’m supposed to be sleeping. Well, I finally got to sleep and I was wearing a jacket.

Then, my jacket came into contact with the bed sheets and there was a split-second white flash where it came into contact.

Then, I tried to reproduce it and sure enough, another white flash.

Now I’m trying to sleep with the fear that my grandma’s house will burn down.

Help me… please…

No everything is completely fine. It's actually just static. Crazy, right? Different materials rubbing against each other do that sometimes. So if it ever happens again don't worry. If it bothers you maybe change your shirt or blanket etc.

Well thank you Mel. One time it happened when I was like 6 and I was so scared and started crying and my mom explained it to me. For as long as I can remember I've been EXTREMELY scared of house fires.

Np Elo. Glad I could help!

Yeah, it was. I wasn’t seeing things; it was an actual white flash. I wasn’t blinded by it though.

Also, I didn’t sleep with the jacket on and everyone’s fine now.

Hi Elo!

I used to have that fear too! If you’re really worried then you should probably tell someone like your parents and they can help you. If you want a more practical approach, i would video tape your room overnight and see if the white flash comes. If it does, you’ve got evidence. If it doesn’t, then you probably imagined it.

Don’t worry if a fire does happen. I had a fire safety presentation a few years ago, so I have some tips. If there is a fire, scream for help. Crawl out of the room and shut the door. This should secure the fire for 20 min max. Get your family outside and call 999 or 911 if you’re in America, idk where you live lol.

I hope this helped!

It was in my grandma’s room and there’s wool bedsheets in there.

Usually, I sleep in my room without a jacket on and there’s no wool bedsheets in there.

Thanks a lot, though.
