Why do a lot parents assume that their kids are straight and cisgender?

It’s a little bit annoying.

I am cis, but it would be nice if they would ask you your pronouns and sexuality.

Like for example, if you are girl at birth but you don’t like people calling you a girl. Let’s say you like people calling you by he/him pronouns. I feel like few parents stop to ask your pronouns and sexuality.

Do yall agree?

My mom asked me if I liked Girls.

The conversayin went that we were watching a show called "Love on the Spectrum." It's a reality show about young adults in the autism spectrum who find themselves a partner, and my mom and I've been watching it because she wants me to learn about how to find someone I like in the future.

There is one member of the show named Journey, She's 18 and she likes girls. My mom asked me who I liked, and I said boys. she said if I liked Girls or boys and girls she will still respect me .

My dad dosen't support tho.

I honestly, dunno if I'm lgbtq. But am I in the community if I think that, I don't want to have children with anybody because the thought of that to me is gross?
by (740k points)
I agree on you with the last chance

Not just that, but overstimulation

My aunts REALLY want me to be a mom when I become an adult, but I don't see myself taking care of a child.

Babies are overstimulating and can trigger anxiety. I am fine with kids over 5 tho.

I feel like I'd rather adopt a kid than actually have one, me personally.

Because most LGBTQ people naturally shift to different sexualities/genders later in their childhood or teens, and most parents grew up in a non-pro-lgbtq era. They grew up in an era where you didn’t see pride parades or lgbtq parties often.

Also, because most parents witnessed their children being assigned to their sex (gender and sex is a difference, you’re stuck with your sex the entirety of your life, but gender is changeable), like elo said, they’re gonna assume your cis.

Heterosexual and cisgender people have been the norm throughout all of human history up until 20 years ago, when lgbtq people became much more frequent to see.

Also, a lot of people want biological children. Although yeah, there is a way for one lesbian mother to have a biological child (the other mother will not be biologically related to the child), gay dads gotta settle for adoption. Heterosexual relationships are the only way for both parents to be biologically related to the child. But relationships are about love, not blood, so remember that any parents can be good parents.

Because most people in the world are straight and cis, and the media portrays basically everyone as straight and cis. That’s why.

That was the old media, the new media is the exact opposite, actually.

Lgbtq people exist, and whether the media likes it or not, they’ll keep doing pride parades, they’ll keep cancelling creators that slipped up and made a homophobic comment, and they’ll keep on trucking.

Nah, there’s countries in the Middle East that are HEAVILY against LGBT+. I know in Iran (I believe), if you’re homosexual, you face the death penalty.
by (154k points)
I’m not left wing or right wing, but I don’t get how some left wing supporters SUPPORT some terrorists in the middle east (not everyone in the middle east is a terrorist) although they literally DESPISE lgbtq, which 95% of left wingers support.

I don’t mean to sound racist here, btw.
by (918k points)
Wait, so you’re saying there’s left-winged people who are against LGBT and they support terrorists in the Middle East? Because that’s just wrong.
by (154k points)
There probably is, but it’s just extremely uncommon.

My sister is pan and me and my family support her... And I think i'm actually be bi.....

So I might come out....

But like I been straight for my whole life and I like women too I find them attractive....just a little.....

Pronouns are fine its just I hate it when people force LGBT on children... Like forcing kids to be trans or gay... That's not cool man

Cuzco they havent realized the corruptness of their world and they grew up in an environment where there was no social media so people weren't being influenced by other people. That's why.

I mean, I think they're right to assume that sort of stuff, because uh...

...

Well, they were there when you were identified as a girl/boy...

And uh...

They've kind of grown to know you as their daughter/son...

So...

And ahm...

Heterosexuality is the norm...

So...

You can't really blame them for thinking these things...
by (168k points)
It’s kinda annoying how heterosexuality is the normal thing.
by (154k points)
Well, I’m not trying to sound rude or homophobic here, but a good 97-98% of people in the world are heterosexual.

It’s considered the normal thing because throughout history, people have had heterosexual relationships, and most people continue to do so today.

Plus, heterosexual relationships are the only way to have a biological child (as in a child that is biologically the child of both of the parents) in a couple (given both parents are fertile).

I am not saying that lgbtq couples cannot raise a child- Zoe seemed like a nice person, and she had Gay dads.

I am also not saying that lgbtq couples don’t exist- I’m pretty sure I saw a Lesbian couple messing with each others hair in the San Fran Airport yesterday.

Also, CAN WE MENTION HOW HARVEY MILK HAD A DRINK NAMED AFTER HIM-
