Here are some updates for my Bleach Fan-Anime episode 1.
I have done the math and figured out how many frames I have to do to make a 20 minute anime episode, Over 3,000 frames. But, since 4 minutes of that will be made later, I really have only 15 or 16 minutes to animate. Which is still a lot of frames, but because anime is made 3 frames a second (f.a.s) as opposed to 4 f.a.s, like Looney Tunes, I don't have as much work as some animators. Anyway!!!
The story is a little different from my mangas. Here are some big changes:
- Rinji's character design. I gave her a makeover to make her easier and more interesting to animate. Main changes to her appearance include:
- Hairstyle. If you remember her ponytail and her side and front bangs, good. The side and front bangs are staying, with a bit more length in the back. Instead of a ponytail, think of those hairclips you sometimes see that press the hair against the head, giving the hair height. Don't worry, I will post a drawing of it, but for now this is just a tease.
- Face. For the longest time, her face design didn't have a whole lot of "character" or "personality". It was sort of boring for me to draw. So, I changed the shape slightly, making it rounder to promote younger age, and gave her a slightly childishly rugged look (such as adding some freckles). Her skin is also slightly darker.
- Body. DRAWING TIP: Youngsters aren't very thin. Their middles don't pinch in like for older characters, and typically their waist is larger than the shoulders, which are very small. In keeping with this, I edited Rinji's body. In Bleach, young (or young looking) characters frequently have long legs compared to the upper body, so I also added this, as it looked good..
- Uniform. In Bleach, the Shinigami robes some characters wear make them seem taller than they actually are. The sleeves and pants are loose, while the top is form fitting. In keeping with this fact, I made an initial sketch of Rinji both with and without the uniform, as reference.
2. Story. I believed it would be easier to create a story in which Rinji isn't a captain. So, here are some interesting points in the story planned (her original backstory,with Kazuku and U-ezuri, still stands):
- She is the 3rd seat of 10th company, as the actual 3rd seat is never revealed in the actual canon. So, there we go! The story basically follows her life, her relationship with her best friend and captain Hitsugaya, and her personal struggle. The first episode is like a prelude, as in it I'm planning on revealing her brother's murderer.
- It starts around 2003, like the real anime, just after the events of the 1,000 Year Blood War. I may change this later, but that's my default until I find a better time.
- Rinji is slightly younger than Hitsugaya. She started and finished school the same as him, but entered the Court Guards later. She started as a sort of intern for the different branches of the Soul Society military, such as the Kido Corps. She experienced many of these battle squads, but was ultimately transferred to the Companies.
- Special feature: If I have time, I plan on making a little special feature, talking about the development of Rinji and the anime episode. I will probably make a few of these episodes until I feel I am good enough to make original anime episodes.
In other news, here is some information regarding production!
- I will try and finish it by the start of next year. Since I will only get to work on it a few times a month for only about an hour each time, it may take longer.
