I thought I was safe. That is the only thought in my brain as I am running. I am running and running and don’t know when I am going to stop.
I remember earlier that morning, I was safe. I didn’t know my life was going to be at stake just a few hours later. It all started when I decided it was a “great” idea to go for a walk in the woods.
I went into the woods. It was so beautiful and sunny. Then. everything went dark. That was when it all started.
The monsters had started chasing me. I never got a good look at them. I ran as though my life depended on it. Well I guess it did. Then, I dove behind a tree. I thought I was safe, I thought I lost it, then I heard a twig snap.
One of the monsters had found me. I ran before it could give me a second glance. Now, I am still running. When will I get to stop? When will I be safe? Will I ever be safe?
I turn a corner and continue to run as fast as my legs can carry me. The monster is gaining on me. Then, I remember that I have a pocket knife. Just as I remember, the monster sees my moment of weakens. It uses it to corner me in a cave.
Then, I come face to face with it. That is when I take in the complete horror of it. I am afraid to even describe it to you for fear you will faint as I almost did. You would think I was in the Hunger Games and this was a muttation. But, of course I am not.
The monster prepares for attack. I meet its eyes and know that by the end of the hour one of us will be dead.
