Speech contest thingy at my school

Question

So, at school, we're doing a speech contest. We get to pick a piece of writing that is either humorous or serious, the piece has to be at least 2 minutes long and the limit is 7 minutes. I chose The Other America from Martin Luther King, I'm close to memorizing the whole thing. The order of the Idk, contests, are the 5th-grade contest to see who is moving to the school, and then the district. Have any of you done something like this before?

I bet you’ll do great! In 5th and 6th Grade, I had this thing called Rotation when we’d get an assignment that would be due in two weeks, like memorizing a poetry piece, write a story, read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes and then make as many cranes as you can to send to Japan, do a research on the founding fathers of the USA, or write a poem, two of the poems i wrote for Rotations have gotten into big youth poetry anthologies/contests.

I have done something kinda like that! I had to make a poetry piece (it sucked) and present it in front of the elementary school and the middle school. I was so nervous LOL.
