Can gase like oxygen be created or destroyed.

It can never be created or destroyed. However, it can be transformed into something else, like another element, or even into pure energy. If you burn oxygen in the air it will combine with hydrogen to form water (H2O). The oxygen still exists, but now in the form of water. It is no longer a gas.
