Asslam wa Lakum! Thank you so much for asking, I have never been asked a question on KidzTalk. So..I did a little research and talked to my parents and imam. So let me answer question number 1..no, I don't believe it is allowed, because you see, Allah (SWT) is the most powerful, right? And we should respect that, though, many muslims are hypnotists and they sometimes hypnotize others for the sake of their mental health, which yes, is allowed. But real magic, no, if your doing one of those fake magic tricks where you get a bunny out of a hat, those fake magic tricks are allowed, but even real good magic isn't allowed, because Allah wants us to be happy with what we have, so let's say your mother has given you..pasta for dinner but you don't want what's at your plate-you want...rice, see-Allah always wants us to be happy with what we have, and we don't need magic.

For your second question is something that muslims have been debating on for years. IS MUSIC ALLOWED. Well..in some ways yes, some ways-no. So..I play the piano, which yes is halal, I have checked with many, and that is completely fine, in fact, there is this educational islamic podcast for kids that my little sister listens to, sometimes I drop in and the thing is..the main character in that islamic podcast, that imams and educated people worked on, she is obsessed with music and she plays the guitar. Also-when our Prophet (SAW) went to Madinah the people of Madinah played him music, they sang a song, they played drums for him-if that was haram, the Prophet would've said something to warn them.

So..if your talking about instrumental music and songs with clean, happy words, that is all fine, but let's say...a lot of my friends are listening to this Ariana Grande song called 34 + 35 these are the lyrics, first there's some s*xual terms such as: You might think I'm crazy, the way I've been crazing, if you put it quite plainly, just gimme them babies, then Ariana actually says, Can you stay up all night? F*** me till the daylight. Oof-language and s*xual terms. Also-if you don't know who Violent Femmes is-his songs have very violent and bloody language.

Ok, you might be thinking "I can't listen to my favorite pop, rock, and hip-hop hits"? Well..hon, you can, but let's take hmm...Kelly Clarkson's Stronger, it has motivational lyrics-no language, but positive messages, that you can listen to. All those songs with good messages, not s*xual. Something that is even better, is listening to the Quran, it will change your brain, and you will get rewards from Allah for it-if you don't know where you can listen and read Quran, if you have a mobile or tablet download the: Quran.com app (download on apple app store, google play or amazon app store) it's amazing: https://quran.com/appsif you are using a laptop, computer, or a web browser, check the website (same for app): https://quran.com/

And for your last question, does haram mean illegal? Well..illegal, stealing is illegal, leaving children alone is illegal, and eating pork is haram, yes? But is it illegal? No, so the meaning of illegal is something that is against the law in your nation or state-what you would have to pay a fine or have to go to jail for. So, eating pork is haram, but you won't have to pay a fine for it, now-haram, haram means doing something that has been said not to do in the Quran. If you do something that is haram..Allah will make your life a bit harder by taking some things that you have..giving you a punishment, and on The Day of Judgement, he will ask you, "Did you do this"? and maybe you might spend a day or two in Jahannam (h*llfire) I'm not saying that he will or saying anything to offend you, just using an example, inshallah we will all be in Jannah. Haram is illegal (technically) but in Islam.

Ok, so, inshallah this helped you, I enjoyed writing this today, jazakallah khair, brothers and sisters, Asslamwa Lakum!
