Standing for the flag

Question

So, I have my own personal and political beliefs, and because of this, I choose not to stand for the announcements or pledge of allegiance. My teachers and peers have been giving me trouble because of this, and one of the teachers forced me to stand for the flag! I really don\'t want to, and because freedom of speech, including freedom of not speaking, is included in the American political system. I don\'t feel comfortable standing for my own reasons, but I do understand that others may feel uncomfortable with my sitting, and I am always completely silent to compensate for this. What should I do?

Honestly, I think you should stand. But you're right! You do have the option to not stand. I knew one person who would just go in the hall for the pledge. you can also stand, but maybe bow your head, not recite it, or put your hand over your heart.

Not to be really pushy or judgy or anything awful... why won't you stand? I really am genuinely curious!!

I know I'm very late but I will answer anyway.

It's fine to not stand.

 In my school district, Every day after the pledge there is a moment of silence we remain standing for. Part of last year I sat down for the moment of silence. This is bc I thought the moment of silence was a big waste of time. I probably will start that again soon .
