Plants use photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is where light, water and carbon dioxide are taken in by plants to make glucose that gives them energy to grow. This also creates oxygen. Plants make a complex sugar chemical compound, known as glucose, but they don't use all of the things they take in to make it. Six oxygen molecules or 12 oxygen atoms are left over.
