Exponents can say how many times to multiply a number. For example, 24 means to multiple 2, 4 times. You don't multiply 2 by 4, you multiply 2, 4 times. So that's 2x2x2x2, which is 16. Another example: 63 is 6x6x6, not 6x3. 6x6x6 is 216, so that's what 63 is!
To solve exponents is actually easy. For the 24 exponent, you can write it out as 2x2x2x2. You multiply 2 by itself as many times as the exponent tells you to, in this case, 4 times. For the exponent 63, you multiply 6x6, which is 36, and then multiply that by another 6, which is 216. For bigger exponents like that you don't have to do it all in your head because most people don't have to memorize 36x6. So yeah that's just an easy way to solve exponents!
And 24 btw, is pronounced as "two to the fourth power". And 63 is pronounced as "six to the third power". But you could also say "six cubed" instead of "six to the third power" whenever the exponent is 3. And when the exponent is 2, you could say "squared" instead of "to the second power".
