Hey, Y’all!
I know most of you aren’t furries, but i have a question that may pertain to LGBTQ+ users, too. It’s similar to coming out of the closet, except as a furry. I really want a fursuit, and i’ve found some good makers and even diy head bases for manokit furries, but I don’t know how to propose the idea to my parents. I’m afraid they’ll associate the furry community with something it isn’t, or say that paying that much for a “costume” is impractical. What to do? Also, whenever I talk to my considering-being-a-furry friend at school, I’m afraid some people will hear and think i’m weird, because there are a lot of furry-haters at my school. Furries are basically on my mind all day, whether it’s deciding which fursona to get my (hypothetical) fursuit of, or thinking about changing one of my fursona’s color palette, or deciding whether I want to make my own fursuit or have it made. I feel bad leaving my mom and dad out of something that defines part of who I am, but at the same time I’m nervous about what they would think.
