Yes, we cannot date in Islam. That might be confusing, but if you are a Muslim and in love with someone you cannot date, you can marry them. And obviously, you can't marry them without getting to know them. What many Muslims do is when they want to get married they have chaperoned talks. What I mean is talking with someone (no kissing, hugging, or physical contact involved) But with someone else (other than the person you love) chaperoning you.
So then you can get marry them and have dates (after marriage ofc). Our partners are our spouses, not boyfriends/girlfriends.
And we have kids after getting married. Not before.
My mom explained this all to me. I was really confused about how people from my religion have partners if they can't date.
