Why are june bugs always on their backs, trying to fly?

My fam lives in Louisiana near shreveport. I like to go on my patio during the summer, but there are always about ten june bugs laying on their backs. I don’t understand why so that’s why I am asking. #please-answer

Heya! Little late, and I had to google XD

So basically, bugs lying on their backs is a bug-universal thing. Dead and/or dying June bugs are in the postion because it was actually a sign/symptom of a bug's decreased cordination and failing nervous system. Found this at "askingalot.com"

It's actually a little sad, even though bugs scare the life out of me :(
