I was at my aunt's house when mine first started. I was 12. It was actually kind of funny thinking back on it now because though I knew what a period was, my first thought was that something was wrong with me. I didn't end up telling my parents until the day after because I was afraid that I actually did start my period (lesson learned here: don't be afraid to tell your parents; better sooner than later.).
