The first two chapters are Wrayas
Madison
I have no memory of what happened to me. All I know is that I woke up in some sort of laboratory. No, not a laboratory, more of a Wizard Room, I know I sound crazy, but seriously, magic is real. Probably. I couldn't move when I woke up, and I still can't.
Around me, I see two shelves. Books are on one shelf, and ingredients on the other. The room is dusty, and ancient-looking. like from a castle in a storybook. A young man strolls in the room, and following him, an odd odor fills the room. The man, in his twenties, casually grabs a book and some red feathers and green scales. Seemingly unaware that I am here, he gets to work mixing and stirring, he pours this awful smelling red goop into his cauldron.
"Let's let that sit, sister." He says to me, a wicked glint in his eyes, I shiver, not just because of the cold, but also because of what I see, “Soon enough, sister. Soon enough." I try to speak. All that comes out is a small grunt. I try to speak again. Nothing. Again I try to speak, but the more I try, the more it feels like I’m choking. "No use trying." he says, not even glancing at me, “The Hanakist spell keeps you dormant. Your body becomes paralyzed, your mouth can't move, and your mind becomes dormant. The more you try to resist the more the spell fights. Already the spell is wearing off. Which means I am going to have to do -," Swiftly he seizes a wand, and the next thing I know each hand and each foot is held by this glowing black rope. "That." He says, and leaves the room.
Now that I think about it, my body felt tense when I awoke. Every passing minute my body feels looser and looser, like a ton of weight has been lifted. Looks like that Hana-whatever curse has worn off. I shake my head and a few strands of my ginger red hair falls in my face. Oh great, now my nose itches! The black ropes are, of course, magic, I think. Now that I figured out that magic is real, if not, I was hallucinating, but right now I’m definitely not giving it the benefit of doubt. A spark of imagination burns inside of me, and fills me with hope, although it’s a really dumb idea, I’ve got to give it a try, it’s my only chance of getting free. I feel my wrists and ankles burning. It’s now or never, it is time to put my plan into action.
I shout as loud as I can, hoping to get someone's attention. I barely hear footsteps but they're there.
"What’s with the racket?!" a voice with the faintest accent shouts. Not the person I wanted. The voice gets closer, and then a guy that looks only 2 years older than me barges in. He has hazel-brown hair, and light skin, he has soft facial features, he also looks like a snobby brat, and he looks fit enough to go with the football players at my school which I don’t know if it even exists in this world that I woke up in.
"Hey! Do you know how to cast a spell to break these ropes?" I ask. The burning sensation is getting stronger by the minute.
"I'm not supposed to be here." he says as a sly but cute grin forms on his face. "Look at all this stuff. You want out don't you." he says it more like a fact than a question, but I nod anyway. He crisply says to me, "What makes you think I would do that for you? After all, you're a prisoner to Kadis."
"That's his name?” I snort, “Sounds like what my grandpa would call my brother, Kaden, but more weird. Anyways, can you get me out of here?"
"You put a lot of trust in a guy you just met," he says.
"Anything to get me out." I say desperately.
"Fine," He says, casting a spell, breaking the ropes. "If you have to create such a fuss about it. I’ll follow you, don’t think I’m letting you go too easily."
"Like I said, anything to get me out."
He casts a spell that forms those same black ropes as a rope. I climb down and he follows me. And we run into the woods.
I start to think these thoughts, Where am I? Where am I even going right now? What was my life before this? Who is Kadis? Who am I? Why did that Kadis guy call me ‘sister’? That guy that saved me is kinda cute. I’m hungry.
Just as I think that last thought, my stomach starts to growl, so embarrassing! “Seems like you’ve got yourself a monster in your stomach.” the guy says, smirking. I feel my face get hot, “Speak for yourself. And that wasn’t funny.” I say, trying to hide my smile. “Mmm-hm, okay. I’m hungry, but since you seem to not be so hungry, I’ll just go to the next town and get some food, just - for - me.” he says in a mocking nonchalant tone, pausing in between when saying ‘just for me’. “UGH! You’re SO annoying!” I exclaimed, and he just smirked, a cute smirk.
Hmph! Why does he have to be so annoyingly cute! His hair is messy, and even his clothes are crooked. I hate messy people, but why don’t I hate him? His eyes are super pretty, though… Ugh! Madison Genine Elenor, if you keep getting distracted by a guy, you will never make it out of this magical world alive!
“Whatchya thinkin about?” the guy asks, I realize that my brows are furrowed. “Oh! I’m fine, just…” I want to ask him why he’s so good looking, but I hold back, knowing that he will think I’m into him, which, by the way, I’m not! Okay, I guess I am… but still!
“C’mon, let’s go get some food. I promise that I won’t poison it.” he said. “Okay, but will you buy it? Since I don’t have any because someone kidnapped me.” I ask, “Sure, as long as you kiss me.” he says. “K-kiss you?! B-b-but, why do you want me to do that?” I ask, stuttering, he suddenly bursts out laughing. “I was just joking, silly! Do you think I would want to kiss you? Especially when I already have a girlfriend? But it’s okay, you look so cute when you’re flustered.” he teases, my cheeks grow hotter.
Ouch. Does he seriously not know that he just insulted me?! He didn’t have to emphasize when he said ‘you’ to me! I wish I could just stop liking him… But too bad I can’t. Also, GIRLFRIEND?! Please tell me that he’s lying about that! C’mon, Madison! Ignore it! You do NOT have a crush on him! Calm down, take deep breaths...
“Okay? I guess?” I say, not pointing out the fact that he insulted me, right now, to my face. “Man, it’s hot out here… Come on, let’s go to the nearest town, it’ll get your mind off of being mad at me.” he says, as he goes ahead of me, while I glare at the back of his head.
“Wait, wait, wait! Before we go, what’s your name? Because I am not eating with a stranger.” I say. Even if the stranger is a really good looking guy, I think to myself. “Oh, right, sorry. My name is Luke. It’s a normal human name, not cool at all, I know. Sorry if you thought my name would be something cool, like ‘Kadis’.
Luke
Madison is really pretty, and super cute. I didn’t think that I would be saving a pretty girl. I was just told on a mission to go to the Dark Tower to save a girl that came from the Mortal Realm. I didn’t think that I would ever fall for a mortal… If my father ever found out, then, I would be a goner. My father has very strict rules about my life, because the kingdom’s going to be in my hands after he returns to magic. In case you’re wondering, ‘returning to magic’ just refers to ‘passing on’.
Why I lied that I have a girlfriend, I don’t know. I guess I was trying to make her jealous? I really don’t know. It just came out of my mouth… I mean, there is Chloe, the little daddy’s girl, who really, really, likes me. So when Madison starts going to the academy, she’ll probably have to deal with her, and she’ll probably think that Chloe is my girlfriend, after all, she always acts like it in front of everyone.
Okay, back to what’s happening right now. “Your name isn’t bad, and it’s actually a cool human name.” Madison said, blushing. “Oh, um, thanks, I guess… Okay, let’s hurry up, there’s a bakery nearby called ‘Love at First Bite’, and right now is their happy hour time.” I say, quickly trying to change the subject. She looked at me suspiciously, which made me even more nervous. “Ahem, so, um, we should head there now, right? Hehe…” I say, feeling a bead of sweat on my forehead.
“Oookay, I guess.” she says, and, is she blushing? No, no, no, she’s probably just wearing makeup( although I think that she isn’t the type of person who likes to wear makeup a lot), or the weather is too cold. She started walking in the wrong direction, so I decided to stay where I am, to see how far she’ll go without noticing me. Turns out, she walked quite far, all the way up the hill that was next to us when she was actually next to me, judging from how she was with me at first, I thought she would care for me more! How dare she! Oh, my heart! The tragedy! Heartbreak! Hahahahahaha, that’s sarcasm I used right there, no judging, okay?
And then, FINALLY, she stopped and turned around, looking for me, and I actually had to kind of shout to her that I am here, and that she was going the wrong way. When she came back, I doubled over laughing, while she just glared at me while pouting. “Not funny. Why did you do that? Is it that hard for you to just tell me I’m going the wrong direction when I’m here, and not up there?!” She started whining and complaining to me about it all, and she even said that I’m so rude, which, I am not, by the way.
“Okay, okay, whatever, I get it,” I say, trying to stop my laugh, while Madison just has the scariest look of fury on her face, “C’mon, you got to admit, it was funny. Aaand, I should stop talking.” I barely get to finish my sentence before Madison tackles me to the ground.
Once I got her to finally stop, we found out that the position we were in was quite embarrassing. Madison was on top of me, and we were both in a lying position, and our faces were less than an inch away from each other.
“Ahem.” I cleared my throat after a few seconds when my brain was processing everything that I’m looking at right now. “Eeek!” Madison exclaims, scrambling off me. This time, I’m definitely sure that she’s blushing. I let out a small laugh, as she glared at me. I put up my arms in surrender, as I say “Guilty as pleased, M’lady.” with a little smirk on my face.
“Ugh! Whatever! Let’s just go already!” she says, looking annoyed, yet slightly amused.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
“Hey! Wait for me!”
“You’re so slow… hahaha!”
“Ugh! You’re so annoying…”
“Race ya to the top of that hill!”
“Ha! You don’t know what you’ve got yourself into, I won races with my friends, all the time!”
“Really? Because you look worn out already!”
“It’s because of you! You little brat! You let me walk the wrong way for 3 minutes, thinking you were coming with me!”
“You’re still mad at me because of that?”
“Duh! Who wouldn’t!”
“Me.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. And also, I’m sorry. I really mean it.”
“*sigh* Well, I’m not that type of person who holds grudges for a long time, unless I get kidnapped by a guy named Kadis, you know. So… I forgive you.”
“Ha! I knew it! I mean, nobody can resist my awesomeness!”
“Hahahaha!”
“By the way, I won.” I say, “What?!” Madison exclaims, almost bursting my eardrums. “I said, I won!” I shout, “I know that! But what’s behind you?” she says, I roll my eyes, since I know she's acting out that she totally heard me the first time. I turn around and find nothing, well, unless you count the beautiful twinkles of the Aurora Borealis, although it’s a human thing, they are also things here, in this realm.
“Whoa…” I hear Madison whisper next to me. “Yeah, they’re an everyday thing here, so you’ll have to get used to it.” I say. “Oh, okay.” she says sheepishly, making me regret what I said, although I don’t know how it made her upset.
I hear her sniff, so I turn to look at her. She starts to cry, making me not know what to do. “A-are you okay?” I ask, wow, really smooth. “*sniff* Yeah, I just *sniff* wish I could go home. I mean, I don’t even know what happened to me! I don’t even remember my family!” Madison cries. “Please don’t cry… I don’t know what to do when people cry.” I fidget a bit, debating whether or not to hug her. But that problem was solved when she hugged me, crying on my shoulder, just like those movies that I’ve seen, with those human actors, and some supernatural beings that, obviously, mortals cannot tell if they are human or not.
“It’s okay…” I whisper to her, while stroking her hair. She looks up at me with tears streaming down her eyes. “I’m hungry.” she says softly, after a while of silence, looking at each other. We both start giggling, “Okay, let’s hurry, we need to get back to my home in a little bit."
Madison
A most wonderful aroma of fresh bread hits my nose like a ocean wave. And the atmosphere, quiet and, cozy, makes me feel like I've been here often . There are ten customers, a couple couples, parents with three small children, and a tween girl, in the bakery. I would have guessed that this place would look a bit more magical, but it appeared relatively normal. Well, other than the fact the children were crawling on the walls, and the parents were trying to peel the kids off it, It was normal . My thoughts are interrupted by the fatherly voice of a baker.
"Well, whatcha want ?" Asks the baker, his jolly face grinning, as he strokes his stubby white beard.
Luke looks at me, his eyes seemingly saying the same thing the baker had said. I shrug my shoulders. "Well?" Luke says, " We don't really have time for any indecision you might have ?"
" What's good ?" I ask with a hint of annoyance in my tone .
He grins mischievously" Ask around ."
" I can't do that ! "
"Well why not."
"Because."
"Because isn't a reason." I wanted to slap him. He is so annoying And, well, I guess I still like him. I force myself to stop thinking about that, and force myself to embarrass myself. I'm probably being dramatic. Don't get me wrong, I like socializing. It feels awkward though.
"Fine," I say." But if I ever see you again I'm forcing you to do something you hate ." I start to ask around, but before I look over. Luke and the baker whisper something. I slowly inch to a couple, sitting by a window.Why am I so nervous ! Its just asking a question. I nervously ask about the food. A couple minutes pass of talking. Turns out talking wasn't as bad as I thought. I turn around to go back.
"You have some nerve." The tween says, flipping her mint tipped, black hair.
Dumbfounded by her words, I look at her shocked. What did I do ? " Excuse me ? " I pause, and start to stutter . "What exactly did I do ? I'm not exactly from here ." Every country has customs and traditions . Maybe I had done something wrong?
She squints." You know exactly what ?"
" I really don't know what you're talking about ; I'm kind of busy. " I say trying to get away from her.
"Dragon Bloods ?.'
" What ?" What on earth is she talking about . There was a silence ; Without warning she shouts . " You ruined everything , and you still do ! " Everyone must have been shocked, everyone was silent including Luke . " I hate you, Madison. " The girl, crossing her arms, walks towards a corner and watches me.
What had I done ? How did she know my name ? What is going on ?
I head out the door . My hazel eyes blinded by the evening sun., I sprint to get away from "Love at First Bite" and sit to rest . This place is just---well I don't know. I sigh, lifting my hands to my chin.
I hear a rustle behind me ; I look over there, whatever it was it was gone. I shiver, thinking about what the noise could be. I hear a rustle again, this time louder. Without warning , a hooded guy appears.
I, my heart racing and my mind thinking it was Kadis, become defensive, and, in the bravest voice I can muster, I say," Dude, what the heck do you think you're doing. I don't stop there. Because I normally just say stuff like that in my head, It surprises me. "How did you even find me, Kadis !
"Moore" He says, as he takes off his hood, his icy blue eyes standing out in the now dark atmosphere. I must look perplexed becaus he says, " Moore is my name, not Kadis. And I didn't find you; I merely stumbled upon you " By the look on his face, He seems like he's acting more sophisticated than he really is.My stomach growls, but I ignore it and instead focus on the boy
He looked young, though no younger than me, about fifteen. With his platinum blond hair and ....
I see Luke in the distance.
Luke
I don't know why she does what she does. Then again I don't know why anyone does what they do. She, being foreign, keeps on wandering; It is not a good a habit. Fortunately, Madison didn't go far. I decide to wait twenty minutes to see if she comes back.

Normally I don't rush into things. Because it was dark and I didn't have much time, I am being hasty. I can see two figures . I don't know who or what it is. For all I know it could be-----. I hear joyful laughing. It sounds harmless, but is it ? I make to much noise for my own good, while I am running.
" Hey," I hear Madison say as she waves to me. "Come here !"
I, concerned for her safety, cautiously listen, follow, and reply " Errr, sure." I have a better view of the other figure, a blond, taller than me boy. He doesn't look suspicious though I will stay cautious.
" This is Moore. She says, grinning. I had never seen her so happy that it makes me glad and a little sad. I had never made her this happy , but I wish I had. For once, I notice what Madison is wearing . Its a wonder nobody gave us odd looks. She is wearing jeans that are now ripped and dirty, a light grey sweater that is also dirty, and teal converse.
"Hi" Moore says.
"Hey." I say blandly. " Who are you ?"
"Your girlfriend told yah. Its Moore"
I sweat profusely, trying to ignore his comment. " No, I mean Who are you ? Where are you from ? What are you doing here ? Also what were you talking about ?" Madison and Moore laugh. I am assuming they laughed because I said the last thing much lighter than the rest.
" We were talking about------- Oh, you wouldn't get it ." Madison says as she and Moore share glances .
Moore says " For your other curiosities, l'll put it in song !"
"Really , "I say. Is he seriously like this ? " Really ? This isn't a musical." Madison giggles. Was that what they were talking about ? " Madison, We better go."
"I guess your right." She sighs
We walk for a half hour before things become congested. Good, that means we are close .Where I live , cities surround an attraction or something of that nature, and become more sparse the farther away from the attraction it is. There really is no definitive outline .Yeah, not sure how its like in the mortal realm, but that's what it is like here. It won't be long before we make it to the destination.
We had been walking in silence, making it startling to hear Madison speak .
" Do you know the girl ?" She says as she yawns. " the girl at the bakery" I think for a moment. I don't know the girl personally, but I know her people. Rebels..
"Kind of, Madis, I-------"
"Madis ?" I couldn't tell whether she was amused or angry.
"What !"
" Madis, Kadis. Get the connection. "
"Oh, yeah." Again, Madison yawns; I yawn a second later. Guess yawns really are contagious. I smirk, though you can barely see, and Half jokingly say. "Do you want me to continue calling Madis ?"
Madison laughs " Sure ."
"Wait you're serious ? "
"Yeah." She yawns for the third time while saying that word. I allow my eyes to drift, seeing the dark and barren streets. A far cry from the usual busy, and loud streets in the daylight. Because it hadn't rained, the roads are dry making every step hard to miss. Hearing foot steps other than mine and Madison's is a little strange. We should be the only ones out here . I could be wrong though. I come to a halt while Madison, after noticing, also stops.
" Why did you stop ?" She asks.
I put my finger to my lip as if to say "shhh"
step step step. Somebody is definitely here.
