Matter of opinion but I think poorly because the characters are drawn for us and can't imagine them ourselves. Like in Button Button I thought the one who gave the button was a midget until  watched the movie.

I would say if the graphic novels contain bad images, inappropriate content, or anything else not fit for your age then graphic novels would impact imaginations poorly. They would be beneficial by if you can imagine a story. Graphic novels also have a lot of pictures which I would say benefit your imagination!

It depends on who you are, but in my viewpoint, it impacts imagination in a good way.
