So, there are a few things that are really annoying about coming out and if they're relatable, can you tell me which ones?
1.
Person who says they're an ally: Does this mean you have a crush on me?
Gay/bisexual/pansexual/polysexual person: Uh, no.
(I hate it when this happens. Just because I'm not straight does not mean I suddenly have a crush on someone.)
2.
Annoying person trying to be an ally but failing: Can I still call you *dead name*? I won't be able to get used to *name*.
Trans person: No!
(You cannot call somebody by their old pronouns and dead name. You need to get used to this person's name and pronouns.)
3.
Friend: Oh, I know someone who's also gay!
Bisexual/pansexual/polysexual person: Um, I'm not gay, I'm bi/pan/poly. And we don't have to automatically start dating. . .We might not like each other in that way.
Gay person: Uh, just because we're both gay doesn't mean we're going to automatically like each other. . .
(Just because people you know might be attracted to your friend doesn't mean you need to have them meet.)
4.
*people telling you to pick boy or girl*
Nonbinary person: I'm nonbinary. . .
(There isn't just male and female. The gender spectrum is like a big, rainbow circle with all genders. It isn't just a line with boy or girl. There is nonbinary and genderneutral and way more than just those two identities that come to mind immediately.)
