I need advice, fellow queers!

Question

Hi! So I’m a bisexual, who came out to my friends, but not my parents. I KNOW they support LGBTQIA+ but I want to come out to them, but I’m scared. I don’t know why. A little bit of fear went away when my Mom told me one sentence when I was crying because when I was showing her pride flags on Amazon (I think you all know why haha) and she told me to be a little more quiet (not in a rude way) because the people behind us (we were in a store) started sighing and walking away when I got a little loud (I get loud a lot sometimes lol) she told me she just wanted to keep me safe so they wouldn’t have a “talk” with me.. I was holding in tears because I knew they were one of the millions who hated who I am. I started crying and my mom hugs me. She tells me “Don’t let anyone stop you from being yourself” I felt a HUGE weight lifted from my chest. I thought she and my dad would never look at me the same if I told them.. that was the reason I was so upset. That was the reason I cried every night. And they support LGBTQIA+ more than I thought. Another example is today. We went to another store. I said I wanted to look for pride stuff (I have asked for many pride things this month) and a few minutes later my dad says “I wonder if they have a (idk a clothing brand I forgot) pride shirt. I want one if so.” I couldn’t help but smile. He also supports. I need advice on telling them. I’m not scared anymore. I just need a right time, place, and the right words. I need the right words. So would you guys help me? Thank you so much.

Hi, 

Sit them down and say something like, "Hey, I wanted to tell you something. I know you support, and I'm bisexual." Find a time that you're all together if you want to tell them at the same time, just pick a time you're not busy.

If you want to tell them separately, you can do that too!

They are allies, remember that in case you get nervous. It's okay to be nervous! It's normal!

Also, if you have any LGBTQ+ friends you can talk to in real life, talk to them! 

And finally, I hope everything goes well.

Tbh I think they know about you already!

And you should be really happy to have supportive parents cuz not everyone in the world has that! (I mean I do cuz my parents are awesomesauce but not everyone has awesomesauce parents)

Pick a time when they are both free to say, "Hey mom, dad, can we sit down and have a talk please?" Then once you have them you say, "Guys.. The reason I've been talking about pride and LGBTQIA+ stuff is because I'm bisexual.."

Or something like that!

I, personally, am cisgender and most likely straight, so the title doesn't apply to me, but I hope I could help!

Honestly, now that you know for sure that they are allies, I reccomend just saying "Mom, dad, I want to tell you both something really important. Can you come over here and listen?". Then just tell them gently that you are bi. I hope everything goes well for you!
