So, I think some people have been saying that being LGBTQ+ is 'new', or 'an invention'. It's not an invention, and it's certainly not new.
In some places in ancient Greece, gay relationships between boys in higher class society were allowed and not hidden, but we don't know how people in society treated them (homophobia is nothing new-LGBTQ+ people aren't new either). We also don't know much about how society treated women in relationships or whether it was hidden or not, but we do know about Sappho. (Still angry at Google for thinking Sappho has a husband: she's a lesbian, Harold*).
Some gods also had both 'man parts' and 'woman parts' (Intersex people, you are gods. Bow down to intersex people.)
Many Indigenous tribes have more than two genders (the 2S in 2SLGBTQ+ stands for two-spirit, which was put first to symbolize that Indigenous people were here first) and the people with these genders are sometimes thought to have special abilities and have higher positions. These identities are usually considered LGBTQ+ because when people to from the arrived, they had the thought that there were only two genders, based on birth sex.
*It's this mini comic where there was erasure (Harold, they were getting married and kissing, they're clearly not straight) from someone named Harold. Look up the phrase 'they're lesbians, Harold' and you'll probably find it.
These are just three things, and there are plenty more.
